A Brief History of CCV

Christ’s Church of the Valley first met as a congregation on May 4, 2008 in Montrose, Colorado in our first, but temporary, location . This was a very special and exciting time because the people who came together to fellowship gave of themselves wholeheartedly to help establish the Church. Then and now, our members have jumped in and served in whatever way they could.

In the next year, our congregation was busy. In a little over a year from that first service in 2008, our members met together, and were blessed to find our current location at the old Silver Jack Restaurant. After it was purchased, folks jumped into action yet again, cleaning, painting, repairing, remodeling, making what was once a restaurant into a Spirit filled place of worship. Amazing things happened because the body of Christ wanted to be used for the Lord's purposes!

The first service for Christ’s Church of the Valley at our permanent Montrose location was on June 21, 2009.

Gary Hodges became the first Senior Pastor, followed by Steve Woodstock. In late 2021, Associate Pastor “Ozzy” Osborne was promoted to the position of Senior Pastor where he remains today.

We have made it a point to include the communion celebration in every Sunday morning service.

The church has grown to support multiple missions both local and international, offer adult Sunday School, children’s service during the adult sermon and several other groups and activities. We gather to celebrate our Lord with an annual Christmas Eve service, congregational Thanksgiving meal and Easter brunch. Christ’s Church of the Valley reaches out to our community with an annual Easter egg hunt, fall pumpkin carving and Christmas gingerbread decorating events.
